AMSEP Philippines 2024

My trip with AMSEP Philippines was a remarkable experience that seamlessly blended cultural immersion, environmental health education, and medical learning. From delving into the vibrant Filipino culture and engaging with local traditions, to gaining valuable insights into environmental health practices and sustainable solutions, the program offered a comprehensive view of the region. Meeting the director of the General Hospital and learning about its rich history was truly inspiring, while the opportunity to scrub in for an OB procedure provided a hands-on glimpse into the medical field. Overall, the trip was both educational and enriching, offering a deep appreciation for the intersection of culture, health, and community.

I consider myself very fortunate and very grateful to have been accepted for AMSEP Philippines. I had the chance to meet new friends from other universities in Indonesia and the Philippines, and was able to exchange knowledge and experience. I was able to learn so much during my time there and had a lot of fun along the way. During those 5 days we learned about the importance and work done on environmental health, as well as the medical practices of the OBSGYN and pediatrics field. We were even given the chance to watch actual medical operations done inside of an operating room, and some of us were even given a chance to help with minor things. I am very grateful to have been able to join such a wonderful event during my first year. This experience has had a big impact on my journey and I hope to use this experience to keep moving forward.
